What is company knowledge

Let your AI clients search your organization's documents and cite the exact passages they used.

Company knowledge lets AI clients search your organization's documents. You upload files to Collections in Tieline. AI clients connected to Tieline search them, read the relevant passages, and link each answer to its exact source.

Availability

Company knowledge is in early access. Go to Knowledge in the sidebar. If you see Request access, click it, describe what you'd use it for, and submit the form. Once your organization has access, Knowledge lists your Collections instead.

Why use company knowledge?

  • Your agents answer from your own runbooks, policies, and specs instead of guessing.
  • Every answer can point to the passage it came from, so a person can check it in one click.
  • You decide which documents each agent can reach, using the same toolkits that control its tools.

Collections and folders

A Collection is a group of files with one access setting: Private or Workspace. Folders organize the files inside a Collection, one level deep, and never change who can read them. Moving a file or folder to another Collection does change who can read it, so Tieline asks you to confirm.

Each file is processed into searchable text. Text, Markdown, and text-based PDF files are supported. Scanned or image-only pages have no text, so they can't be searched. See Supported files and limits.

Who can see what

Private CollectionWorkspace Collection
CreatorReads, manages, and can share itSame as their role below
Admins and ownersCan't open itRead and manage every workspace Collection
MembersCan't open itRead it through an enabled workspace toolkit assigned to them or shared with everyone. Can't change it

New Collections are private to the person who creates them. Sharing one with the workspace hands it to admins and owners, who decide which workspace toolkits include it. An admin can return a workspace Collection to a single member, making it private to them. See Share a Collection.

How AI clients use it

AI clients use two tools on the shared MCP connection: one searches your Collections and one reads a document. A connection searches only the Collections its current view allows, and every result carries a source link that opens the cited passage in Tieline. See How AI clients use company knowledge.
